Meet Wanda
Wanda Chernenko spent more than 45 years as a Registered Nurse working in surgery, obstetrics, emergency medicine, infection control, quality assurance, and nursing supervisor.
Through decades and multiple states, she experienced nearly every side of healthcare.
One story has stayed with her.
A young man came in after a serious car accident. Wanda cared for him for over a month. Day after day, she showed up not just as a nurse, but as someone fully present in his care. She learned his story, connected with his family, and rooted for his recovery. He was eventually transferred to another hospital, where he passed away.
Not long after, Wanda received a card from his family thanking her for being “his favorite nurse.”
She has never forgotten that moment.
